Dang fellas I just sold my 1034 for around 3500, could not get anyone interested in mine. That old girl would put up 105 bales at a shot. Hang in there Dave you can get the money it well worth it.

I wish you were closer ! I like tha price you have on your bale wagon. I am sorry to here about your knee. I have two perminant screws in my right ankle from a auto accident thirty two years ago and they still let me know they are in their. Good luck !

David,
I'm just being nosy, but are you selling your 1033 or do you have a different one you are selling? Switching to a different wagon, or doing mostly rounds? I've heard you talk about everyone switching to small rounds, but I don't think that has happened here. (Just south of KC)

I would like to find a reasonably priced self propelled one, but unless I get the older units with no cab, they start about $14000. I live a couple hours from Roeders and think you have to outbid them anytime one is at auction.

I haven't made any deals yet, but just talked to an 80 year old man tonight who has had a 1030 setting in his pasture for 20+ years. Probably will sell it, but wants to see what I will offer him. Looks like it is in real good shape aside from the neglect. Gave it a quick once-over and did not see anything broken. Wether I buy it or not, it was a pleasure talking to him. I hate it when I stop and ask about something like that and they don't want to sell it. Even when they and I know they will never use it again.

James

Hi James, I hear you on the hating to ask and getting that answer.

As to me, its all about this accident. With 17 titanium screws perminantly inside my right knee and wearing a foam and velcro brace, I'm done with small squares. I figure in a couple of years I can probably go back to rounds, for now I've got to arrange for someone to do that for me.

I decided to go ahead and sell my bale wagon, grapple, and some stuff that I use exclusive to square bales. Its not been a profit center for me the past 2 years, and for 2-3 years before that were it not for a 5000 bale customer it would not have been. I cant see keeping that capital tied up. Afraid if I dont sell the temptation will be there to start doing them again at some point. Doc made it clear to me, with the mess this leg is still in, anything I do even a few years out to injure it and I will probably lose it.

David

ky , sorry to hear about your leg. was it a farm accident? we hope you'll keep hanging around here and giving us your expertise on haying and hay equipment. when i had my 14T i was afraid to do too much messing with the adjustments on the baler.but after listening to you i might get another old jd baler and tinker this time around.thanks again from all of us for your posts and advice. hope you heal up quick. i've got severe spinal stenosis and am debating what the future might bring for me.

Hi Tim,

Yes, it was a farm accident. I was working in a silage wrapper and through a miscommunication the guy helping me started the machine. Hyperextended my right knee 90 degrees and then rotated it 270 degrees inside the joint. Ripped it apart inside. Had some other accident related stuff from sudden decceleration injuries (kidney, spleen, liver, eye, etc). Seems to be healing up ok, just slow and nothing ever seems as good 'fixed' as it did new.

Im not planning on going anywhere too long and I really appreciate your comments about me. I try to help folks where I can. Good luck on the baler. If you get one and I can walk you through anything be sure and post and I'll try.

Sorry to hear about your spinal stenosis. Im not familiar with what all is involved but anything with bones and spines cant be good.

I'd love to send it to you. Where are you located? Thats the story of my life though. I've been wanting an 850C or 850D Case dozer for a while now, see all kinds of cheap ones 500 to 3000 miles away.

I'm in Iowa where specialized hay equipment like that is hard to find and trucking it in can be cost prohibitive.
