This is for you experienced bale wagon users. I am looking at NH Bale wagons. As far as mechanics go what should I look for? I do not want to buy junk. I am leaning toward the smaller 56 bale models, I.E. 1012 etc.

In the 56 bale models I would only consider a 1012. 1010's are way too much aggervation to get out from under a stack.

1. run it through all cycles a few times. look to see that all tables tilt true, no worn bushings.

2. oil on the ground in front of the hydraulic pump. there may be a few leaks, hard not too with that many fittings but the pump main seal should not be. if it is expect pump problems soon

3. check the frame where the bale loader attaches for cracks and welds. thats the weak spot, with the weight of the loader on the frame.

4. check the chains for wear

You have no problems getting out from under a stack with the 1010 as long as you put some old wood posts or something along the outside of the table uprights. That will lift the bales off of them and allow you to pull out withou pulling the bottom of the stack out. This also make the two columns lean into each other.
