My first choice would be to weld up ( the rods / copepr are a good idea). next choice would be tt oversize then weld in a hard bushing to get back to oem diameter.

You can get carbonized rods and plates from

RepairTech 1434 E. Benge Rd
Ft Gibson. OK 74434
1-888-478-4558

You get a rod the size you want the hole to be, stick it in the hole, clamp a plate underneath, fill the hole with weld, remove the plate, knock the rod out, grind it down smooth.

I've used piece of copper underneath a hole I want to completely fill. Weld it and then knock the copper piece off. You might get away with putting a copper plate underneath and stick a piece of copper pipe (maybe filled with clay) in the hole and weld around it. You might have to drill the copper pipe out but you can do that with a handheld drill.

i had an ih baler that the shear pin hole was bad in and i drilled it out bigger and had a insert made at a machine shop to fit the hole and was sized for the shear pin. if you make the insert slightly bigger you can drive it in and it want come out easy.

Can you drill new holes 90 degrees from the old holes and install new shear pins? Hal

Thanks for the idea but there is all ready 2 half inch holes in the shaft one be hind the other and of by 90 degrees so another 2 holes are about out of the question. plus I'm not sure how you would drill it with out taking the gear box apart so you could get the shaft out and put it in a drill press.
