Anyone planted these for hay in North Texas. I have always planted Sudan, but would like to try something new. How does the tonnage per acre vary between the three, and how many lbs per acre do you plant.

Where in North Texas? I am near Weatherford, just West of Fort Worth. Plant Hybrid sudan cross nearly every year. Large seed company in Denton is wholesale distributor for "Gotcha Plus" which is excellant and has been bred to avoid heading out for an extra 30 - 35 days. Excellent yield. Your local feed/seet store can order it for you. Memory tells me it is about 75 lob per acre. Lots of info on internet about this seed.
Turner seed company in Breakenridge has several varieties and has experts that can tell you all about the crosses: 2-way and 3-way. Bought one there called "Sugar Queen", excellent yields.

I am between Azle and Weatherford. I got some giant bermuda from Turner Seed last year and had good luck with it. I bought my sudan from Dillard's, don't recall the exact variety. I also got the 3-way cross from Boyd Feed for a different field. Didn't rain enough to tell the difference between the two.

I am South of Weatherford, just North of Tin Top. Ray Ann at Dillards is the lady that ordered my Gotcha Plus. The Gotcha Plus was extensively tested and the results are on the internet. Search for Gotcha Plus, seed company Denton, etc and you should find it. Tom

I have no idea about north Texas, but I've planted sudan, sudex, and pearl millet. Yield for me on the millet is less than a third on the others, but theres no risk of prussic acid poisoning. To me, that makes it worth it to use the millet. Its the devil to cure, so we normally make round baled silage.

Here in W NY state I grow BMR Sorgrum Sudan grass. Make into balage, chop it, or graze it. Never had any trouble with prussic acid. Yields 2-3 cuttings and about 10-12 ton/acre. Cows milk like crazy off the stuff too. Couldn't imagine tryin to dry it for hay.
