how does the NH78 square up against the other models of older NH square balers I have a chance to pick one up locally at a fair price. I am presently using a IH 37. I've wanted to change to a NH as thats what the rest of my haying equipment is. I think the 78 is a little newer then the 37. can you help?

Hi don't know much about the 78 but most nh balers are good balers . Field boss ya might want to do a little research on your statement about who invented the knotter, first knotteres were used on mccormick corn binder (we have one ) but when the combine started getting popular mccormick sold the pattent to nh as they didn't think auto balers were going anywhere (boy were they wrong) and since ih or mccormick had charged a mint for the pat to nh , nh refused to liscence them to use it . fwiw mike

Hello even tho the NH 78 is an antique when placed side of an IH 37 it would be like going from an escort to a lincolin

Unless you have to have an antique, move up to a NH 311 or 315.The 78's are getting hard to find parts for, and, they are only getting older.NH invented the auto tie knotters,so,any model NH would be a step up from an IH.Nothing looks better in a hay field than a NH bailer.
