I have Towner Tillage Tools offset disc harrow that I would like to get parts and information on. It is model # K044 and serial # 11338. Any information I could get would be great considering I have none at this point.

Apparently that was made by Towner Manufacturing Co., Santa Ana, CA. Found one article dated 1946 that said they made the tillage equipment for Harry Ferguson.

Maybe you can find out more with other searchs on the internet; Google, Yahoo, etc.

Only the mounted offset discs for Ferguson, the tandem drag disk was built by Roderic Lean, Sherman made the plows and other companys also made some of the implements. The First mower sold by Ferguson was a rebadged David Bradley. I have no idea the total no. of companies that made the implements for Ferguson

The major manufacturers usually can't afford to spend resources developing proprietary products/attachments, so they seek out short-line manufacturers with extra production capabilities and a proven line of equipment. They have the equipment made with their name on it. That causes problems later on when the major goes out of business and customers think that the major made the equipment. If the customer can find out which short line(s)[There may have been more than one manufacturer of certain equipment] made the equipment, they may have a chance of finding new or used parts somewhere.

Even if the original short line company still exists, they may have bought certain parts or sub-assemblies from other manufacturers. The manufacturers that I worked for turned away offers for that kind of work because: 1)They usually turned out to be a low/no profit deal; 2) When the major went out of business, the customers would expect us to stock parts under the major's parts numbers, which may have been only a 1-shot build.

We had a discussion earlier about a Ford disc; I am reasonable certain that some short line manufacturer made those discs for Ford, but I don't know which one.

My father had a small tool & die shop that did some manufacturing for other companies. None agricultural. The usual markup between what my dad got and the final price 300%. Or in other words 1/3 the final price.
