Hi , Can anyone give me an estimated worth of a Dearborn Model 10-161 two bottom TPH plow ? It's in usable shape but needs paint and the colters are missing but the clamps for them are still there . The front edge of the moldboards are slightly worn but the rear ends are still 1/4" thick . The shares probably could be replaced . Thanks ...Randy

Hi , Thanks everyone ! To clarify , it's not my plow ...yet . It's in a auction yard and I was just wondering if was worth looking into . The auction is a couple month's away . So tomorrow , since I'm going to be there loading out my boss's equipment that never sold at the last auction I'll ask what's wanted for it . ...Randy

i've got one in similar condition that aint for sale but i've seen same go for 200+ at auctions...parts are still available from New Holland but i dont know where theyre made nowadays.
as far as scrap...i'll buy every one i can get my hands on and run em thru auction and laff all the way to the bank...old plows like the Dearborns will be breaking sod long after we're forgotten.

Scrap??? These guys are nuts. That plow would bring $200 at auction on a bad day here in PA. They are built a heck of a lot better than the new chinese junk you can get now days.

Not to start an argument here but if I could buy those Dearborn plows for $80 per ton I would take a trainload of them.
As you know, Dearborn was Ford's brand of implements after they split off from Harry Ferguson. They came out in 1948 with the 8Ns and continued through the 50s.
Lots of folks are buying, restoring and or working those old Ford tractors and it seems they enjoy having a "correct" implement to hang off the back of their tractor.
It sounds like your plow could use some attention.
Is the tail wheel there and intact? Shares are available if you need them.
I would start a junk Dearborn at $50.
Add $25 for a good Dearborn Tag.
Add $25 for both coulters, add $25 for the tail wheel, add $25 for original jointers add again for decent mold boards and more yet up to maybe $250+ for a nice intact plow that has all of the above with a decent coat of paint. A 2-12" is worth more than a 2-16"
2-14" was the most common.
Folks aren't looking to turn over a 40 with them every year. But just want one to dig up a deer plot or plant a garden.
I haven't seen your plow but if it is still useable I would put it out on the highway with a $150 price tag on it. Chances are you'll get it.

Hi Ultradog , It's not my plow , it's in a auction yard that sells construction equipment and it might not even be for sale , I'm going to find out tomorrow . I'm going to measure it also .

I didn't see where a tailwheel attaches to it . Did they all have one ? This one is real close to junk according to your discription . It does have a readable dearborn tag but I wouldn't call it " good " . It doesn't have the colters , jointers , tailwheel or a paint job . But it is staight and the moldboards are good . ...Randy

As sad as it sounds its worth scrap price, $80 a ton. Im guessing it weighs 500lbs. You may be able to get 50 bucks if you find someone who needs it.
