That appears to be a Minneapolis Moline plow. Not sure what model, but it"s definately a Moline. Bob

After thinking about the pic, and looking at it again, I think it is possible that it is a Deere. That knobby land wheel still has me confused though.

Several people have said it was an Allis #2. Do you have any idea what the differences are between a #1 and a #2 so I might know for sure?

After looking a bit more I have to agree that it is a #2 Allis-Chalmers plow. The difference between a #1 and #2 according to C.H.Wendel is #1 was available only as a one bottom and #2 was a two bottom. Apparently there was a #4 that was also a 2 bottom that looked about the same.

John, It might be a #2. The differances between the #1 and #2 is the beams are thicker on the #2. (that is why they call it heavy duty). Also the #1 has 3 inch wide X 26 inch diameter land and furrow wheels, and the #2 has 4 inch wide X 28 inch diameter land and furrow wheels. I can't tell by the picture, but your plow might have the bigger wheels. You will have to measure them.

John, Last night, before I went to bed, I posted it was a Allis Chalmers plow. To give you a little more information: It's a No. 1 series of Allis Chalmers plow, built between 1935 and the very late 40's. In that time frame Allis built several models (series) of plows, from a one bottom up to five bottom sizes. The No. 1 series was only built in a one or two bottom size. The two bottom was usually sold to a farmer that bought a WC and wanted a Allis plow to go with it. Most of the farmers who owned a WC's around where I lived used Oliver plows. This included my dad.

Sounds reasonable, my father and his brother bought a new unstyled WC with cultivators, they might have bought a new AC plow along about the same time.

All plows look alike unless you examine the details, with that said I can tell it is not a John Deere. Looking at the round rear beam brace makes me think it may be a Case plow, but some other mfgs. used that feature too. A picture of the other side might help.

My Case two-bottom has 'Case' stamped into the top of the beam. I was first thinking AC, but that knobby land wheel is a new one to me. Been about 50 years since I saw Dad's AC.

Anything made by John Deere will have the JD logo in several places, so if you don't see any of that, it's most likely not a Deere. Likewise, if it was an IH product, it would have some easily recognized logo. The shape of those beams tells me it is not a Deere or IH, and I do not recognize that nobby land wheel either.

Looks a lot like a couple JD plows I have. Or it might also be an Oliver but I'd say more likely a JD from what I can see of it
