I aquired a John Deere manure spreader model R
serial#1.Could anyone tell me the year it was made? And other information that might be useful.

On a lot of equipment, John Deere did not always use individual serial numbers but instead used the "serieal" number to indicate "Series" number, ie, series 1, series 2, series 3, etc.

Brushcutters, such as the old 127, loaders such as the No. 45, and many other old machines are like that.

Your "seial nr. 1" indicates that yours was built during the first production run od those spreaders.

My copy of HOTLINE doesn't list spreaders that old, but another book I have suggests that the "R" spreader is ca 1957.
