Time for a new apron chain on my manure spreader. I have a choice of T-bar (flat stock)and T-rod (round stock). Which is better? and why?

T-rod is supposed to wear better, I went with t-bar as I only haul 30 loads a year and it was $40 cheaper

Wouldn't be gruett's would it? They're loctated in Potter and that's where we got our apron chain. Ussually good people to deal with.

We used to have the flat links in our spreader, then when my dad ordered new he messed up and got the round stock instead. Haven't really noticed any difference, but when we lost a few links in the feild when it came apart all we had laying around were the flat links. I found all but 3, so I made do, but they don't quite mesh together quite right. The round rod does seem to stretch a little more than the other stuff, but if you don't spread much, get whatever fits your budget.

It's also handy to go with what you already have, then keep a few, say 5, good links for "just in case"-- You're always gonna need just 1 or maybe 5 links when it comes apart in the feild and you loose every single one between the 5 slats underneath on just one side in a plowed feild. Of course, when it stretches out you can remove a link here & there, and then you'll have a few more spares.

Long story, been there done that....
