Which is a better baler for baling 10,000 bales per year? I can get a 2 yr old NH 565 for around $8,500 or a new NH 570 for around $13,500. My concern is that the 565 is a cheaper baler that will not hold up and is based on older technology. But then again sometimes older is better. Any thoughts???? Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I went Saturday and looked at the 565. It looks like new. Supposely the gentlemen only used it twice. One of the reasons I questioned the 565 vs 570 is that I saw some negative feedback on the 570. One comment from Steve at NH was that the 565 and 575 had less problems than the 570. Have those issues been resolved? If the 565 is a good baler, I hate to spend an extra $5000 for a 570.

I've got a 565 and I'd recommend the 570. The 570 is nearly the same as the 575 only slower plunger speed and narrower pickup. The 565 is a much lighter economy baler. There is nothing wrong with a 565 but the 570 is more of a baler.

Steve, I would say the biggest decider is horsepower. With the amount of hay bales you are talking about I would think you are a good size operation with around 75+ horsepower tractors. The 570 takes alot more horsepower to operate than the 565 according to the CNH material I looked at. If you are running lower horsepower tractors the 570 may be out. 1999 CNH brochure:
565- 35 hp 570- 62 hp
*Tractor weight must be greater than baler weight;
excludes bale thrower.

I have 570 and its okay,i went from green units,if get new again probably will be back to green. Auger feed gives more consistent feed from what have seen,althought it also can be limit factor. I would take the 570 or the 565 for one reason only it has packer fork 565 does not. thats a big diff in my eyes as far as solving banana bale problem that the new holland always have had with out it. they call banana balers in my area

Great deal on the 570. I have a 570 that eats up hay. Both balers are great.
