Began working on a 550 Hesston I just bought. First order of business is the front roller that's in front of the big rubber roller. It's heavy steel with a couple "spools" on it. Got it out and pryed off the two big washers on the ends. I'm not really seeing how it comes apart. It has an axle deal that goes clear thru as you move one end and other moves. One end you can see a nylon type ring. Other end just looks like rusty steel. Thanks for any comments. GHH

Turned out those bearings were a press fit. Remove was via 8 pound hammer and some work. Replacement will be by juryrigged press as my normal press is too short. Had 2 on each end. Standard 1.5 x 3.1495 sealed. Thanks for commments. GHH

Your nylon and steel are likely remnants of the worn out bearings. Some ball bearings use a nylon cage to hold the balls, some use steel. Parts manual shows how components fit together, hidden pins, setscrews, etc. Well worth having one.
