Old international truck. Model-SD 220

I recently moved back home and found this old truck. Could someone help me decode it please?
It is a boxlike vehicle with 2 back doors, like a Ford Vannette, approx year 1955-60? on the ID plate it shows 134 inch WB ,11,000 GVW, serial # 18992. Thanks in advance, Guy.

The 1950 1 ton that we had had a Silver Diamond 220 in and it went bad and we replaced it with a Black Diamond 220, direct bolt in. The BD 220 I know was made in 1957

SD-220 is the model of the engine SD = Silver Diamond, 220 The size 220 Cubic Inch. I will need to look in my IH truck book.

It's a metro delivery van, in your case, on a one ton chassis. If it has a model on the side, it should read 110 or 120, etc., preceded by a letter. An S means it is a 1955 or 1956. An A is a 1957 or 1958 and a B is a 1959 or 1960. Some of the older International trucks around that size were built bigger than most one tons and a lot of people called them one and a half ton. I had a 1972, it was a 115. The light pickups that year were 100, while the ones in between were 110. My 2001 Dodge one ton has a GVW of 10,000 lbs. so yours could well be a one and a half ton. S means 55 or 56, D could mean Delivery, 220 the size, maybe even a 2 ton. Serial No. would nail it down. Research at a Motor Vehicles registry or IHC archives, if you can.

Here is the serial number, serial # 18992. I think be a neat project to restore, although it has some rust. I would either rebuilt the drivetrain or replace it with something newer. My goal here is to have a old boxvan with new suspention, motor/trans, wiring, brakes, wheels/tires,paint, etc to have me & my brother custom choppers to Sturgis each year. Roll the bikes out and have a place to sleep as well. Does anyone have some pics to share on these Metro"s? Thanks in advance, Guy. p.s. this is pretty trashed, I would also consider the same era metro to purchse as a runner, any leads?
