My dad just bought a 650 roller it has been slightly burned the damage is in the tailgate area I think the field must have caught on fire the front is fine not even paint damage in the twin box, hitch,or the areas behind the doors on each side no damage to electrical system at all right know just looking it over its gonna need belts a few rollers a few bearings and a little paint it must have been a top of the line roller when new it has the net wrap and wide pickup the bale tighting system on the left side on the rear may be some expense. it came from an insuranse sell so we did not get the monitor I hope one turns up on ebay any of you guys ever had any dealings with this roller the only thing we have done so far is put new tire on it not even any paint damage to the wheels one tire may have run for a while but the factory size tires were 180.00 each so we went with 12.5L-15s please comment guys we only gave 900.00 for the roller

I have a 650 that I've been using for two years. Pretty pleased with it thus far. It has the net wrap and monitor. The main issue I've had is the only type of net wrap that I've been able to use with it is the black Fastnet that New Holland sells. It's more expensive than the white. No luck with any of the white varieties. Either won't start wrapping or won't cut properly. I've never tried using twine. I doubt you'll be able to use the net wrap feature without a monitor. I was fortunate enough to find a set of service manuals on Ebay. That would be good to have if you don't already have them.

You did good on the baler. My dad bought one new the first year they came out (1990 or 1991). I got one too, used, as soon as I could afford it (maybe 1998 or so). Sold my 851 chain baler. I'e been getting belts for a shade under $200 each, the mini rough top ones are more expensive than a slick belt, but worth it. Mines twine wrap, I run it without a monitor. All it does on the twine balers is beep when its full.

They will make a 4x6 bale, but these are really prone to tip over. I normally run 4x4 on wet hay for silage and dry hay to sell, dry hay to feed at 4x5. It makes an incredible roll, so much tighter than my 851 did its not even in the same league. Invest in the NH manual for it, its essential to get those back rollers adjusted. They control your belt tracking. Also, there was a recall. Not everyone did it. Be sure your top roller has the rods welded to it, 3/16 inch or so horizontal steel rods. They keep hay from following the belts up when starting a roll. Huge mess when that happens.
