i have a horse drawn hay tedder with cast oiler covers,it has the spokes screwed into the hub with lock nuts. but has no name on it. another one has tin oiler covers and has ih cast into parts yet both look about the same. would the first one have been built by champion

A friend knows someone that has several of all different makes still with the orignal paint in the different makes and they are all identical except for the paint, I know there are supposed to be both John Deere and McCormic in the group so one company built them for both JD & IHC but he has yet as far as I know to find out the company that actually made them. Cast or tin oil covers just sounds like the tin is newer.

Check the casting numbers on some of the parts. Sometimes you can determine close to the maker.
