Gresen 2 spool Control Valve

I have a Gresen 2 spool control valve that operates my loader. It is a 20 GPM SPKXTE44P PBYD control valve with power beyond and float control on 1st spool. I want to adjust the relief valve and cannot find my installation instructions. Also, I"m thinking about hooking up another single spool control valve in series with this value to operate a grapple hook. I"m told this can be done because I have the power beyond feature, but again, I can"t find my installation instruction. The website for Parker Hannifin, owner/maker of the Gresen valves, is the most difficult site to manuever through. ANy help/advice would be greatly sppeciated. Thank you.

Thanks Gerald. Any idea on how to adjust the relief valve on this modele? Also, any ideas on where I can get a schmatic which identifies all the components on this model? Thanks.

Baum's catalog has some diagrams. What you really need is a parts drawing that might have come with the valve originally. Force is a good company for that information sometimes, though their prices seem high to me.

Burden's Surplus center may have some information in their catalog too.

As for adjusting the pressure relief, you need a pressure gauge and I think the adjustment is on th left side of the valve under the acorn nut. Take off the accorn nut, then loosen the lock nut. Turn the screw in to raise the pressure. Watch out for pump limitations but the pressure relief valve will operation (and buzz) when the system pressure exceeds its setting when a cylinder is pushed to the end. When you like the pressure, lock the screw with the lock nut and protect the screw with the accorn nut. Baum, McMaster-Carr, and Northern all sell suitable gauges. Don't adjust without a gauge unless you like taking baths in hot oil from split hoses or cylinders.

For the second valve you will need the power beyond convesion plug for this valve. You will keep the oil return hose where its but the power beyond conversion plug will have the place to supply power oil to the new valve which will need a return hose (though the two return hoses can be Tee'd together). That power beyond converesion plug can be had from Force, Baum Hydraulics, Grainger, and other places that sell Gresen valves.
