What do I do with my dad's old seed drill?

Up until his death four years ago my dad did most of his farm work with horses. One of his prized implements was this horse-drawn seed drill, made almost entirely of metal, and in very good condition. He kept it oiled and inside a building which I plan to tear down this winter.

I don't think the drill will survive out in the elements. Is there a market for such a relic, or is it scrap?

Any planting I do will be tree seedlings.

It's quite wide -- the full of the bay in the barn where it is stored. Maybe 11 feet or so?

BTW: The seeder is in Forfar, Ontario, K0G1V0.

Please DO NOT park it outside, as it will deteriorate quickly. Check around to see if there is an ag-type museum (inside a bldg)in your area. Maybe you know a tractor nut like us who belongs to a club who can help you. What brand is it? Any tag on it with details? Ten years after it's gone you will wish you had kept it in good storage so as to keep it in the family. For time being, park it in your garage and let pickup truck sit out; in 10 yrs the drill will be worth more than the truck!

What ever you do don't park it outside and leave it. I farm with horses and a seed drill is essential. You could sell it at the waverly sale near you or you could donate it to a museum. I'd take it but I am too far away. Other options: Amish, post on the forsale site of ruralheritage.com, or classified in the small farm journal. Don't just park it in the weeds.

A friend of the family was on a board of a state agricultural Museam... he told me he had a call form someone every week about putting something in the museam.. he didnt have time... with that I would sayd you probably couldnt get it in a museam anywhere..

It's a shame to see old implements (especially ones in good shape) cut up for scrap. Somebody out there would be more than willing to buy the drill or "take it off your hands". I would suggest posting more info (ie make, etc) and maybe pictures and see what kind of a response you get.
