crary air reel

Been thinking about an air reel. Ihave a 1020 ih grain head .need opinions as if they are worth it or any other imput THANKS TPIA

TPIA, we've run one on a 930F on a 9610 for two years now. They do add some extra complexity and depending on the fan type and what you're putting it on, it adds some stress to the drive train. On my Deere it really heats up the reverser gearcase. It really improves feeding, as in it's not an issue anymore. The combine always feeds evenly. I think it helps the beans scoot into the header a little earlier in the morning and you can probably run just a little later after sundown too. Overall I like mine, but I wouldn't pay the price for a new one. I bought my head used from Indiana. I felt like I only gave a few thousand extra for it that way. Good luck if you go that route. I've found the company to be very helpful also.

I've ran one, and I like the job it does. The one I've ran was on a JD 25' head. If it is ajusted a certian way, it sure does like to pile the leaves on top of the feederhouse though.

You might also take a look at the Orbit reel from HCC. They won't feed quite as aggressively as an air reel but they are alot cheaper and require less maintance. We've ran an Orbit reel for two years now in beans and I don't think we will ever own another head without one.

I have one on a 1020 header and this is the first season I used it. We cut soybeans with it and it blows the leaves and dust around a lot but I liked it short beans. Thanks jim
