Hey all,

I"m looking for some small equipment to plant about 10 acres of corn next year.

I"ve already got a Farmall M and an old Oliver 3 bottom plow. I"d like to find a 2 or four row planter, a disk, and a few flare boxes.

If anyone near the Litchfield/Wilmar, MN area can help let me know.

Thanks

Next time you head toward Litchfield, watch the south side of Hiway 12- I think near Atwater- fellow along there often has some medium size equipment parked with a phone number on it. Auctions west of you and especially north, likely to find something that fits. Up 71- Marv's north of Sauk Center-(He's quitting next spring), or Long Prairie Machinery. Check Sauk Center Herald for their Dairyland Peach advertiser. Send email for couple others you may or may not want to deal with.

Ah, you have a version of the Peach up there too. Comes with several local small papers. Good place to find farm auctions.

'The Land' is also a good more regional tabloid for us farmers. You can find them on the web. Free if you qualify as a farmer.... All sorts of dealers & auctions.

They have some good consignment sales in your area, might want to check them. The stuff is mostly scrap iron to the big farmers around us, often can get the items cheap. In fact you don't see so much of that stuff at the consignment auctions, watch the estate farm auctions. See that stuff sell for scrap iron prices. Get on the web sites for local auctioneers (Auctioneer Alley, both the Fahey outfits, several others up your way) and keep watching for an older estate sale.

Loyd Anderson of Comfrey buys it up for scrap from my area, I'm sure you have fellas in your area too. Can buy it from them if you find them, & get to it before they start cutting it up.

You got a corn picker? Gravity boxes are a _lot_ less work. Been there, done that with the barge/ flare boxes. They will cost $200, gravity will be $400, and your time/ effort saved will be priceless.

thanks for the help, I've been luck so far. Most of my stuff I've picked up at auctions.
Fahey, Hotevec, K and s, and Fladeboe.

My neighbor has offered to run his combine through it so that should be much of an issue.

I'll keep my eyes posted

I've developed a file of at least a dozen auction websites, saved from print ads. Also registered with Midwestauctions.com, made up of many more- so they send new lists at least a couple times per week. Ziemer of New London is with that group, I think Fladeboe as well. Also check midamerica(n?)auction out of Sauk Center- they have their own site, not on Midwest.
