I have a John Deere 5320 tractor. On the back of my tractor there is an electrical receptacle plug. It is a round 7 conductor connector. It is NOT the same type of receptacle that is on the back of my SUV but it appears to be similar in function...that is, to provide auxillary power and brake light/turn signal out to something like a trailer. Does anyone know that name of this type of plug? Like I said, its similar to my SUV but perhap with a larger diameter. Its a female receptacle and I"d like to get the male counterpart so that I can wire up a auxillary port similar to a car (like a cigarette lighter plug for cell phone charger etc.).

I needed one of those for my corn planter moniter. Bought it at John Deere - they had it in stock. I think the price was about $30. Is that too much?

I have an off topic question for you and your 5320.

How well does it handle a moldboard plow? I have one with 117 hours on it and it's sick as a dog. I have a set of 3-14" Ford 101's and they pull it's guts out. I have the standard 9 speed transmission and anything beyond first in B range dogs it. I'm looking to trade it this spring for something else.

That is just a standard 7 pin round connector, almost every ag tractor built in the past 25 years use them as do most heavy trucks. Besides any farm equipment dealer I've gotten them from www.shoupparts.com and www.truckntow.com

Glen,

What would you say an average over-the-counter price would be, $5 or $10 less than DEERE, perhaps?

From my point of view, it would simply be a matter that you could go to a truck supplier and actually get the damn thing rather than wait for Deere to bring you one, because they don't generally stock something they don't sell much of, which can be had for half the money next door...

jdparts shows the dealer I'm signed up with has 2 in stock.

I was just curious how much of a "green premium" they are priced at.

I'd say at least double. I pick them up at parts for trucks. I think the last ones I got were about 7 bucks (Cad) for the male, and mabey 15 bucks for the female. I've generally got one sitting around on a cable somewhere.... Those were Pollac brand. The tractor came equipped with a Cole Herse.... No bones about it.

Not sure on the Deere... but my NewHolland has one. It's your basic, run of the mill, common as dirt 7 pin heavy truck connector. I think they call it an ISO 7 pin.... I'd bet the Deere is exactly the same. Go to any heavy truck parts supplier, wrecker, NAPA, yada yada. About 10 bucks....

Third Party Image

Key #7... Part Number: 57M8340 Replaces Part: AH93625, POLLAK CONNECTOR W/SPRING, less than $20.00 at your nearesr DEERE store.

You might also try a heavy truck parts place, and see if something for a semi MIGHT match up.

John Deere dealer is a ripoff in reply to ClemBert, 12-07-2006 14:27:36
I was hoping to avoid the dealer and the overly inflated price that would accompany a purchase from the dealer. If I can find out what this plug is called then i can probably find exactly what I need on the web. Anyone know?

What? Something here doesn"t compute. You can afford the tractor but not the simple little electrical connector!!

Deere"s website has a parts catalog that you can go into and enter your model and it will bring up sub categories that you click on til u get to the part you want. There are schematics, part numbers, and part names. To find it go to the Agriculture home page and in the middle of the page you"ll see a JD Parts icon click it. Then in the left hand column under start searching here click John Deere Parts Catalog and you"re there. Hope this helps. JaredM

If it has round pins inside it could be same as a common 7 pole truck/trailer connector. I see Pollak brand listed but a Cole Hersee brand from a truck place or auto supply might work too. I carry some Cole Hersee ones that fit right on the 50 & 55 series JDs and they are just black plastic truck/trailer plugs.

You should be able to go to your friendly John Deere dealer and get the male end. Thats what I did for my 3010.
