JD 1600 14 ft MOCO opinions needed.

I need a new haycutter and lack HP to get a discbine. I like the idea of a 12 or 14 foot cut. Anyone have good or bad opinions on a JD1600??

JD3010 run one of these ok? Got 60HP maybe 55 at PTO. I am looking to decrease mowing time vs a Hesston PT10 that clogs all the time(and is currently broken)

I"ve used a 12" JD 1424 MoCo for two years with good results. It is a center swing and comes in 12"or 14". The operators manual recomends 70 hp minumum.

We run a Hesston 1014+2 14 ft hydra-swing with a Massey 285 (bout 80 HP) It runs it fine, but the back end is a little on the light side so going around corners it"ll sometimes push a little. If you have a bigger/heavier tractor, that"d be better, but with a 55-60 HP tractor you probably won"t be able to go quite as fast. Ours makes the 285 grunt in heavy hay. I use our bigger 1855 Oliver if it gets too hot out because that one"s got a canopy on it.

Joe,1600 JD mo-co's weren't JD's best effort, depending on what type of hay you cut. The double augers won't work very well in sudan/haygrazer but you may be cutting alfalfa. Check wobble box mounting bracket for cracks or extra welding. I worked for JD dealer for over 20 yrs but I cut with a New Holland. Tx Jim

I have 3 different fields:
Alfalfa, timothy, and orchard/alfalfa mix.

What were the issues? I only do 30 acres cutting roughly 3 times(maybe 4 on alfalfa). So light use but time short so I need to get things done quickly.

I don't have ay experience with any of the crops you mentioned as none are raised here. As I stated the twin augers and sudan didn't work well. I would think that because you crops are shorter and smaller stemmed than Sudan that the mo-co will work for you. Tx Jim
