I picked up this baler and am now trying to get it running.

My first order of business is to get the Wisconsin going. Does anyone know if these are 6 or 12 volt starters and if they are pos or neg ground. Also looking for any tips you might have with this type of a setup.

I am also looking for an owners manual that will tell me how to operate the machine. Need to figure out how to load the wire into it since it was out when I bought it.

Thanks much for the help.

Probably 6V positive ground unless it's been changed? JD Publications 800-522-7448

Use AC not Champion plugs Had one once it would
start once with Champions and not again changed to AC it would start all summer long.

I have a operator's manual for John Deere Wisconsin model VF4 engine for operation on
John Deere No. 116W hay baler. It's pretty detailed on how to run and fix the motor.

There should be a decal on rear close to wire box to show how to thread wire. If you can't find decal I'll lead you through threading if you need before op. manual arrives. I think the starter is 12V. Those Wisconsin engines can be very trying at times. Betcha it has a stuck valve!!! Tx Jim

You should be able to get a manual from a JD dealer. I got one for a 14T last year and the cost wasn't all that bad, some where around $30 or so.
