I want to use a Gehl 4400 skidsteer hydraulic motor on a snowblower. Has a 3rd smaller hose that I believe ran to the other motor. Can I just plumb it into the return line, plug it or must it go back to the resevour? Anybody know about the rpm or power on these?

I have no idea what make and model motor they use, BUT here are some general hydraulic motor fundamentals. Your small hose is a "case drain" and is used to drain the internal leakage from the motor. If can be plumbed into the drain line if you only run the motor in one direction. Speed and torque of the motor will depend on the pump you intend to run it with. No motor or hydraulic pump is 100 percent effecient. I would allow 85% effecincy for both the pump and motor. So now tell me what you are going to use for a pump and some model numbers off the motor and maybe we can you get you a lot closer. Also I would suggest running the motor with a control valve that has a "motor spool" Does that help or are you more confused? J.

Yes J, I'm following you. I have the Charlyn download, but not sure how to plug the numbers in. By the parts list the motor looks like a radial piston motor. Not shaped like most motors I've seen. The name starts with something like cat and six letters and made in USA. Numbers are 3400 and 3016-J. That's sorta what I was thinking on the small hose, but I thought it may've been lubricating the back of the motor. Motor will turn only one way for blower, but notice it has a direction arrow. It had to run both in a skidsteer, backward and forward. Can't get the numbers off the pump tonight, but my tractor was set up for a municipal sweeper and the pump is added to the pto and a geared up assembly. It has about 3/4" inside hoses and separate resavoir. The compact Ford has it's own hydraulics, but this was added for capacity I'm sure. Thanks. Bill
