Krone vs Claas balers

I have an older Claas 46 baler that is getting old and needing a good bit of work so am thinking about possibly trading it next spring for a Claas 240 which is the new equivalent of the 46 or a Krone. We now have a Krone dealer in this area. Has anyone used both of these balers to have an opinion as to how they compare to each other? The Krone dealer says that everyone who has the Krones love them. They do look to be a simpler baler with fewer moving parts to wear out. I have been very happy with the Claas. The Krone is some cheaper than the new Claas balers too. Thanks in advance for your help!

Well we have all Krone's and the amount of hay and straw that has been thru all of them is unreal as all of us that have them have the 4x4 as we have found for what our need are that this was the size that would best suit us and only one has broken down twice oncs with a bad weld on the one drive sproket and then this year it had a bearing fail and i would say that after14-15 years of three - four cuttings a years plus the straw i don't think that is bad . The oldest one has pumped out over 60000 bales and is still going .

Personally I think that's like comparing a Cadillac and a Cavalier. That's not to say there's anything inherently wrong with one or the other.... but when you pay for a Caddy, you expect a lot more. You can well be happy with the Cavalier for what it is...
You're probably well aware of what the Claas will do. I think it's fair to say that most people who've never run a Claas simply can't imagine what one will swallow in an hour.... So they think their current NH, or Deere, or Krone or Vermeer, or whatever is just as good.... I've seen the variety of them in action, and I've yet to see any one outpace the Claas 44S that I've got. Personally, I see nothing wrong with the Krone balers. I know a guy that has one. He didn't pay much for it. He did a bit of work to it that didn't cost him much... and it does what he needs done. He's happy with what he got, and not a bad word about it... but he's also well aware that it's not going to make the production of a Claas.
To me, that's the distinction you ought to draw. Whether you want to pay the extra to get a top of the line baler, or simply buy a baler that "will do". OH... Caddy's and Cavaliers.....

I have an M&W baler, which is a red & white Krone. Very pleased with it.
