What is the attachment called that converts the pto to a belt drive for a belly mower. And does the pto have to run in reverse to run the mower?

A pulley?

right angle gearbox?

could be lotsa things.. can you be any more specific? most of us don't read minds.. some of us do.. but not very well.

I don't see too many reversing pto setups.. So one can only assume it is a belt crossover or a gear direction chage.. etc..

I have a International 274. I am using a finish mower behind and don't like the turning radius. I am wanting to get a belly mower and don't know what the devise is call that uses pulleys to convert the Pto to belt drive. Someone in another chat mentioned that it would only run on a reverse geared Pto. I don't known and am seeking info and directions. The other option is a Zero turn mower but I don't see the value compared to a tractor that I already own.

It's not a super easy task for a beginner to convert a rar mounted finish mower into a belly mower. There are belly mowers out there that would be easier to adapt.

First.. is your rear finish mower using a gearbox, or does the pto shaft instead drive a large pully?

There are many different possibly ways to do this with sets of pullies and or gear boxes.. etc.

I"ve gave up on using my finish mower for belly mower its to big. I"m probably going to have to purchase a belly mower. I don"t have any of the pulley system for running off PTO, looking to buy one. I think that a pulley driven mower would work better for clearance under tractor. Just looking for in-put, not exactly a beginner was a heavy equipment operator for years, just not familiar with this application.

As far as I know, such setups come along _with_ the belly mower when you buy it?

Generally you have a pully on the pto, 2 idlers below that, & the belt goes around a big pully on the mower. Pretty easy. If the mower was built dumb & discharges on the wrong side, wrong rotation, then the belt will be longer & cross over somewhere.

All that should come with the belly mower.

Well, that's what I'm refering to.. I.E. experience in making conversion from belly to rear and so on. 100 years of driving a front end loader don't help much as you've seen.

Being a weldo/fabricator would haowever be a big help.

Find somebody with a IH cub and belly mower and look at the pot pully, and guide pullies. A farmally H can be setup similar..etc.
