Hello, I bought a 10' IH wheat drill yesterday that was advertised on the photo ads page here on YT.
When you are in the photo ad page, click on implement and it is probably on the second or third page and will be listed as SOLD IH Wheat Drill SOLD and it's from MO. If any of you all can help me identify it , I surely would appreciate it because I want to get a manual. Thanks.

It is a model M or MF. I just bought a model MF two months ago for 150.00, but it has high steel wheels. If it has four boxes it is an MF, if only two M. The F stands for fertilizer. Mine is a 16 hole 7" spacing. Going to use mine this coming year to put out 50 acres of hay. Hopefully the old JD MT will pull it and the drill works!! The boxes in front are for grass seed. You can get a operators manual from Binders Books out of Oregen.

That's a pretty good price.

The front small boxes are for clover, alfalfa, and other small seeds. You may tuck the seed tubes into the regular big tubes & seed into the trench - but that is rarely a good idea, just let the seed fall & scatter. Take a wire with when you use the grass seeder - spiders love to put webs up in those small tubes.

The cog on the left side will engage when it is in the ground, & it spins 2 (or 3?) small arrows. It is an acre counter. I never bothered to look at mine, dad said it was worthless, did not keep an accurate count.

Mine is a 12 foot, 3 doors on top. I have no idea what the model # is, kinda curious myself.

I don't remember what the model is, but I do remember some about the drill...been at least 30 yrs.

Pop had one, the small looking box in the very front was used for fine seeds (alfalfa, timothy). Ours had 2 sets of box's behind the smaller front box, one for fertilizer and the other for grain seed. Ran the entire width with a separate door (top cover) for each that over-lapped like shingles on a roof.

The gear that you are describing might be part of the mechanism that raises and lowers the drill. Pulling on the ropes on each side raised and lowered the unit. Hope this helps some. Edward

Alfalfa seeder or as some call it grass seeder. It could be an m-f your right.

Delbert, Didn't IH also make a model M-F. I'm thinking the F stood for fertilizer (could be wrong).If so, how does one tell a difference between the two? Also, in between the tire and frame on one side there is a cogged gear for something, but I don't know what. On the inside of the frame is where the chain drives the seeding mechanism. But I don't know what that lone cogged gear is for! Thanks.
