I got this David Bradely manure spreader(sold by
Sears)cheap,now I know why.
Seems someone replaced the bars in the bed that
push the manure to the rear.,however they aren't
properly spaced,as a result the chain jumps off
the geared pullys.Anybody know anything about this
spreader??Appreciate any help TX

The spacing on the bars shouldn't make much of a difference. Do you have a bad link? Did they replace the bars and chain with the wrong size chain? Does the chain fit around the gear(not stretched out)?

Are you overloading the spreader and the chain is jumping?(I don't know if that spreader will break the chain or jump first?)

Just something to start with. Good luck.

chain is correct size, the bars are bolted at each
end to a chain link. There are two gears at the
front & two gears at the rear for the chain to
roll on,heres the proplem. Each gear has a tooth
missing or a flat spot for the bolted end of the
bar to pass by,however if the timing isn't correct
& the bar misses that flat spot,it throws the chain off the gear. There has to be someway to space those bars,I'm stumpped!!

Oh my, that is an odd setup, but I understand. Yes you will need to time it out. You probably need an even number of links or something like that. How many teeth on the sprocket, & how often is the flat spots on the sprocket? 'Simple' math to time it out.
