Sickle mower pittman parts

Mowing the ditch today and broke the ball socket end of the pittman. Need to find a new one quickly.

Anybody know where I can find this part?

The connector is cast iron so it can't be welded.
You haven't seen my welding either. Cheaper to buy new then to waste welding rod and good electricity. LOL

1. Cast iron certainly CAN be successfully welded.

2. WHY the guessing game? Why not mention the mower's make and model????? Someone might have what you need lying around. I can't imagine making the first post without mentioning what you are working with.

just put one back to gather friday the ball and the "vertical section that it ball is made on" its about a 15 min. job to weld it back together

Take the two parts to a good welding shop for repair.

Most good farm and home supplys will have them or also a good tractor dealer will have or be able to get them

Thanks. Just a city boy trying to play farmer. Just need some thoughts on where to look. We do have a TSC, a Bomgaars and three implemnet dealers.

Unusual day of farming. Broke the steering wheel on the Oliver 77, the mower on the B Farmall, and then 3 Oliver disk bearings disintergrated. The mower part was broken already but somebody put a bolt in the ball clamp to make it hold the ball.

Thats a very common way to fix them BTDT my self and it does work but its not the right way to do it but when you have to have it and need to get the hay down you do what you need to do to get it done

Just priced the parts at CaseIH. $20 a piece for the parts that clamp the ball and $45 for the latch that clamps these pieces. Think I'll buy the clamp that's broke and put the a better bolt back in.

Don't blame them for not fixing it right at that price. Them being my dad and brother. It almost made me buy a new mower but all I have to mow was a road ditch. Maybe a Weedeater would do.

I couldn't agree more!
I can't count the number of times I've read a post asking, " why did the previous owner cobble this?" Younger people just don't understand what the older less wealthy farmers had to go through. When there's an hour of daylight and it's three hours to the shop and back you do what you gotta do. That's why they invented baleing wire.
