What size of implements do I need for a 8N. I want a disk, plow, and a bush hog.

What year tractor do you have? a later with side mount distributor will have about 27HP wile the front mount is a 23HP tractor and those extra 4HP will make a difference in what you can do. In my ground with the front mount 2-12" is all I could handle. Same engine as my 44 2N Ford and When Dad bought it new the dealer brought out a 2-14", made 2 rounds and took it back and brought out the 2-12" and have had it for 62 years now. Used with a disc a lot but always a drag type, never with a mounted, and about a 7 1/2' rear gang size disc. Never put on a rotary mower as the 2 different 5' mowers we had took a lot more power than tractor had. Would kill a 52Hp tractor while mowing.

i'd have to agree with what Ultradog said...we pulled a 6.5' disk behind a 8n in sand and it did ok but i wouldnt want to try it in any heavier soil...5 foot mower is about all it'll handle too.
we pulled a dearborn double bottom 16'' but again...it was in sand.

Geeze,
For a moment I thought I was going to have to try the Heimlich Maneuver or something.
Glad it's just about your tractor.

The 8N was sold as a 2 bottom tractor and it will pull 2 bottoms in the right soil conditions.
I had an 8N and bought a 2-14" plow for it hoping to break sod in our claey loam rocky soil.
N wouldn't pull it.
So I bought a 1-16" plow and that was a much better combination.
Your N will lift about a 7' disc and it will pull it fine. But if you want it to cut a little deeper you will want to add some weight to it but then the N will barely lift it.
My advice is to buy about a 6 footer. Then you can add some rocks to it and still lift it to move it around better.
Most of the folks on the N board will agree that a 5' brush mower is just right for your N. It is just as wide as your rear tires and will fit anywhere your N will fit yet still cut close to trees, rocks etc better than a 4'.
Most also agree if you get into some real heavy cutting and the tractor wont handle a full swath with a 5' you can just take half a swath.
