Well, after all the beating and cussing I finally got the race out of the reel bar.I took ya"lls advice and ran a bead of weld in it and popped it out. Now,with that said. How in the world do you get the new bearing in without it tearing all to pieces, like the first new one I tried did? They are way to costly to learn by error. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks,
Big un

I moved the star so that the shortest distance to get that bearing stub in was at the outside, where I could get a prybar on it. Chain the reel in place. Work the stub into the hole with the prybar and a ball peen hammer. I thought I was the only one with this problem, and did not ask for help! Wish I had, lost some skin, but got it in. Good luck! It helps if you are in a rush and you just have to get in and gat back to work.

You'll be back asking how to get the bar back on too - parrallel bars don't slip on at an angle..... Yet another tricky part of all this. :)

I have never replaces one of these, but how about you try freezing the race first to shink it slightly.

Just a thought.

I have knocked them with a 2 lb. hammer and a 3/4 drive socket just a touch smaller than the race. A little lube doesn't hurt either. Hope this helps.

Line the race up with the housing and tap on the race with a piece of brass. Tap one side then the opposite side. Just my two cents

Well, the bearings are in place and being that Mr. Paul brought it up,how do you get the blame bars back in the star wheel? This thing is worst than working on a corn picker.I can work on any farm junk as well as the next feller, but this cussed thing is about to get my goat.Lost my religion more than once working on it.Thanks for all ya'lls help.
