I'm looking for the pawl that holds the bar up on a New Idea 30A tow behind sickle mower. Anybody have a good parts place to get one? It's for a friend of mine. I'm in South East Wis. Thanks.

The part you are looking for is the clamp for the knife head or the back knife head hold down

It's not my mower. I'm looking for friend. He said it's from the 50's tow behind mower. The way he explained it the pawl is used to hold the arm up. It's suppose to have a spring in it also. Does that make sense? Maybe I can put a bushing in it for him.

I have one of those mowers I bought for parts to fix a No. 40 that I have. The No. 30 is the pull type PTO mower while the 40 is the semi mounted version of the same mower. Both from the 50's. What you are comming up with makes no sence. All mowers of any and all makes and models to keep the cycle from droping when the bar is in transport position use the same method that I said so it must be something different that I can't fathom that you are talking about.
