Hey guys,

I've been thinking about (another) winter project - This spring I brought home an old JICase stationary hammer mill that my folks bought / got about 25 years ago. I just barely remember Dad levering it out of the horse trailer in the dark. He was planning to use it to grind corn for the steers he was feeding at the time.

Anyway, feed prices, cattle prices, and priorities changed, the steers were sold to buy a different house, and the grinder sat outside, home to the mice and the wasps for the last 25 years. When they moved this spring, Dad was going to junk the old mill...so I brought it home.

I've looked it over, but can't find any sort of tag on it. Any idea on the model? Outside of e-bay, where could I find a manual?

Current condition:
The hammers and blower are free and spin easily by hand. But the ground grain loop (is that what its called?) that feeds into the blower is rusted away. There is a lot of sheet metal to straighten and cracks to repair. I have 3 screens for it, as well as the dust collector.

Thanks for any help,

Nathaniel

(I know the picture shows a JD mill, but my Case looks almost identical, its the closest picture I could find.)

Hi Nathaniel, we had had a Case hammer mill very similar to your photo. I believe the model was a #8. I can't be sure. After many years of unuse, my brother sold it to a horse farmer a few years ago who was going to buy a few pigs.

hi,
I have a hammer mill very similar to the picture you have on this site. To find parts I have found that it is sometimes more economical to fabricate replacement parts than to buy them (if you can find a supplier) I found that the only parts easily found are the pillow bearings, and screens. other than that, it is more or less just angle iron and sheet metal, and plating welded together. I had to make a new vaccuum shute for mine, out of stove sheetmetal and used my friends mig welder.
