The reel bar bearings came out of 2 reels and I went and got new ones. Question is how in the @#^&%*%$#$%(#% do you get the old race out of the cup. All the neighbors have learned new cuss words and a few that I didn't know that I even knew. Please tell me how to get these devilish things out. I have worked on junk all my life but I ain't never had anything like this. Thanks for all the help.

If you have a welder weld a bead around the inside of the race and it will fall on the floor.

Works most all the time.

Don't heat the outside of the housing, it may stretch and not hold the replacement tight.

Just weld around the inside of the race and it will shrink as it cools.

We used this method several times on gear boxes where you cannot get at the back side to drive the race out when I worked at the welding shop.

If you are referring to the bearings that hold the bars on as opposed the the center spider hubs they are a challenge. Normally, I pull the snap rings, heat the cast ends cherry red and then put the bearing center stem in a vice. Then drive the bars off. If its just the outter race, a good cold chisel, a good 3 pound hammer, and a 6 pack usually for each.
