I placed the following ad in the local paper but have gotten few responses. Do you think to many women thought that last line disqualified them?

LIVE IN FARM COOK: Female, 1 child okay. Must be good cook and able to handle duties related. Private and secure quarters. Good salary. Paid annual vacation. Familiarity with the operation of large farm equipment is an asset.

I see that you are not an equal opportunity employer!! I can cook and keep house, operate, maintain and repair farm machinery. Milk and feed cows, slop hogs, cowboy a little and chop and pack wood. But you want a FEMALE so I'm sicking the ACLU on you cause you are violating my rights to fair and equal employment. So there Phhhttt.

Just the fact that you specified gender implies that you want something more than a cook.

Yeah, they might have balked at the last line.
To me it implies that they might have to run a combine between meels.
Of course you could have worded it worse...
Like if you'd written:
Knowing your asset from a tractor is a plus.
