My brother and I have found an old AC all crop combine that has set out doors for a while. I have called the land owner and he says he will sell it, I havn't gone to look yet but was wondering any info on these combines... It looks interesting as the combine part goes opposite the pick up... The owner did say the belt/conveyer is gone and paddle wheels... Also will these do dry beans beside oats/barley??? Also any idea what one should offer on something like this I don't want to offend him but also want to get as cheap as I can as I am sure it needs work..

Tom

from what i gather, these were top of the line machines, and probably still clean better than most others. i am looking at one in mo that has been stored in a shed all its life, one owner and has the reel and pick up assembly. hopefuly i can get over to pick it up in a week or so. these machines run for about 250.00 or so. there is a guy in pa who is selling 2. 500.00 for both, i believe thay are 60's or 60a's. can check for you and send the e-mail addy if you want.

I have a 72 auger feed, no canvas. Yours sounds like a 60 or 66. Check the pan under the cylinder, since its sitting outside, dirt & water will get trapped there & rust it out. Look at the bearings & anything that moves, make sure it hasen't locked up. You can do beans, no problem with the right size screen, I have 1 for grain & 1 for beans. Dad has told me stories about jimpson weeds ripping holes in the cavas, but other than that they were good machines.

All Crop 66 is on my want list. Grandpa used one for as long as I remembered. I am not buying one thats been stored out side though. I bet you can have it for the scrap price. You will be paying good money for new canvases.

I have one in North Central Mn that I would sell pretty right. Sounds like the same condition. My canvas rotted, and two of the paddles are broken, other wise worked great the last time it was used, but that was 15 years ago.

Yep,

They will do dry beans, but they are a bearcat to change over and put all the dirt removal pans/seives in.

I know of one near Cambridge MN that is in about the same condition. Owner would part with it for scrap price.

My father ran one here in illinois reaping barley, wheat, rye, soybeans and clover. Light weight so when fields were soft they wouldn't tear it up so bad. we done a lot of custom work with ours. no problems if you cut your crops at the propper time. the only thing we had to swath and rake to dry was red clover. if it is sitting outside be sure to check to see that the cylinder is not rusted thru. bill

Built pretty light. In humid ares, grain must be swathed, allowed to dry, the with pickup attachment on combine, swaths are picked up and put thru combine. No problems with grain heating and molding then.

Built pretty light. My father had combining done in minn.(straight combining , sickle cutting grain then going through combine)might say lost entire crop as threshed grain heated and mold set in. After that , grain was swathed and allowed to dry before picking up grain from windrow.
