Hi,

I am looking to buy a plow for my JD 730 (with 3 pt. hitch). An upcoming farm auction has the following plows for sale. I was wondering if any of these would work with my tractor:

- International 145 plow 4 bottom mold board - International 165 plow 5 bottom mold board

I only need to plow between 2 and 5 acres although I may one day have more.

Thanks!

Im MAY be able to pull a 5 bottom but it will be much happier with a 4.

But, I think its against the law to pull a red plow with a green tractor.

I just thought of a logistical question. Assuming I bought a 4 plow, how heavy is the thing and how would I get it home? The auction is being held about 10 or 15 miles from where I live. I could drive my tractor down there but that would take a while. Otherwise I have a Ford Explorer that pulls a 4'x8' wooden trailer. I'm not sure if a plow would fit in there or be too heavy. I assume at these auctions you're on your own to take the stuff home (maybe same day too?).

In addition to the good advise of FM, other options are to find a, um, ah, gee I don't know what to call it. A 3-point transport? Many farm dealers have these. pull behind a pickup, and have a 3-point on 2 wheels. They lift hydraulicly with a lever you pump by hand. Some dealers will rent these out, or if you are a good customer loan it to you for a day.

Probably cheaper to just drive the tractor. Oh, & I pull a green plow with a blue tractor - they don't snarl at each other too often... ;)

You could drive your tractor, If you knew you were there to buy. If you didn't buy, you would definetly have a nice tractor ride, IF you dress right. If it is same day, it should say on the sale bill. if not or if it is questionable, call the auction service and ask them. If it is same day, you may be able to find a nearby farmer willing to let you park it there for a couple weeks, until you can pick it up. If you do this and he doesn't ask for any money, it is always good to give him a few bucks....
