I was wondering if anybody would know what the original color of a McCormick-Deering corn binder would be, I restored one for use around holloween for selling corn stalks, all I need to do now is paint it.

Probably red originally but I've seen NOS wood for 2 row units that was white and later replacement wood that was white also.

If it is a Short Vertical Corn binder, the wood is red. Ours has the original wood on it. The color of the machine is all gone but if I remember right it was red also. I have the original manual but did not see anything about color.

Scott -- Color depends on whether it's a horizontal or vertical binder. Take a look at eBay #7243922549 to see the original advertising poster from McCormick-Deering -- both are pictured in color. (I've tried to add a link below -- maybe it'll even work!) Vertical is indeed red and white, whereas the horizontal binder is brown, blue and white.

Be sure to post a picture once ya Git-'er-done!

acording to the poster i have the vertical binder, mine has some original white paint on the frame and red on the top boards, but the lower boards seem to have yellow on them. thanks for your replies!
