What is the best method to cover a gravity box that is being stored outside? Any one tried building a cover from wood?

I went to the local grain trailor repair shop and got a used tarp for $10 bucks. Took the wagon to the welding shop and put removeable hoops on it and put the tarp on like the grain trailors. Fasten it on one side and put a pipe in the other with a handle to roll it up. Put two ratchet straps on that side of the handle to draw it tight.

send e-mail if you want pics. I have a flare wagon here that also has that. The wagons are at the other farm under the roof.

We have a couple boxes that are covered with a metal roof with a large opening on the top for filling. You are able to open them from the ground. They work great except for the fact that realy fine snow will blow in them in the winter if conditions are right. I think they were around $500 when we got them. I can give more info if you are interested.

No, for a box left near my paddocks for my feeder calves, it would be more convienient for me to have the grain source right next to the pens. I have them tarped now but I am looking form someting more practical.
