When the bar is up in travel position connected to the rod, what keeps the knife from vibrating down to the ground ? I can not find any info in the operaror manual.

the piece over the edge of the head-of-the-sickle should have a prolonged inch piece of cast on the back side to catch the pitman.

The rear knife guide should have a protruding piece that will catch on the pitman strap.

I think maybe the fact that the bar isn't really vertical but still at a bit of an angle as the knife drops it pushes in on the pitman which stops it. I have one and they DO drop so ALWAYS keep fingers out or the guards! I have never had it drop to the ground though.

We usually tied the sickle bar up so it would not fall.
