Walked outside this morn and on the corner of the house was a spider web about 3' off the ground. I would not have saw it if we would not have had fog this morning. The web was anchored 8' high on the garage and 18'feet of anchor down to the web. The spider had another anchor string to the electric line running to the garage. The wire is abour 10' high. Just how does the spider connect these string anchors that far away from the web net? Quite a nature structure. Really interesting. Food for thought.

Almost ran into one a few mornings ago. This spider set one up right in front of our main entry-exit door. It had done it a day before and I removes it but didn"t get the spider. The next morning it was back and much bigger, and this time the spider was right in the middle. Looked kinda like a big ugly Brown to me. Needless to say that was the last web he ever made. If I hadn"t seen it, the girls would"ve walked straight into it. Seems like they are drawn to entryways?

I know they jump, float in the air and perform some amazing feats to get the job done, I have often thought that if our scientist could make a rope that had the flex and strength of a web we could lift houses with 1/2 cord. Nature is remarkable.

Yes it is amazeing how they do that. I guess its this ongoing drought we are in that has had an effect on things because I havent seen near the spiders this summer as I used to. Very few at night either I rarely see a web anymore. Seems they are alot more abundent on a wet year here in OKLA.
