Guy near here has a MF #3 Baler for sale. Looks good and has some of this years hay in it. I was wondering what size tractor I would need to run this thing and a ballpark price I should be looking at (I'm in Nebraska). Any quirks or problems with them?

you don't need to have a big tractor. 30 - 40 horse is plenty. I use a 400 farmall and it is a great plenty. Like he said, you have to go slower but it is a nice little baler. Just got done in the road ditch and picked up 150 with the old #10...

Those were decent little balers, they don't have a large capacity so you have to take your time and not push them too hard, butthey are simple and work well. I have my eye on one that an old timer has in his shed, it looks like it came out of a showroom and when the time comes I'll be biding on it. We still use a #10 for all our small squares...Value? Maybe $300 -500. It would have to be exceptional to be worth more...Mike in Exeter Ontario
