Bearing problem on NH 660 baler

I have owned a NH 660 round baler for 6 years or so and have had to replace the bearing on the top drive roller every 400 bales. It is the bearing opposite the drive that goes. I have already upgraded to the heavier bearing, but that hasn't solved the problem. Anyone else with a similar experience?

Thanks for the replies. I have consulted with my local dealer and he has suggested that it is end pressure that is taking out that bearing. I have now spaced (just added washers to the opposite bearing casing) the opposing bearing to take some pressure off. I'll see if that helps. BTW, the bearing i have had trouble with has been upgraded to a heavier bearing by NH already.

Thought I heard a long time ago that NH had an update where they were welding reinforcements on the frames of those balers. Frame was flexing enough that it was causing bearing failure. A NH dealer should know. Those are great balers. My cousin has one and it has been as reliable as a piece of equipment can be. His 660 is the main reason I bought a 664.

I don't know too much about that baler, although I would wonder if that shaft is wrapping with hay, heating, and then cooking the bearing? Most times I've lost a bearing on a baler, hay wound up on the shaft was the culprit. I may not have helped you much, but it's something to check into. Good luck.
