Has anyone ever come across a unit you could hook to a tractor's 3pt and use it to bury electrical wire? I've got some odd jobs that i'd like to start on to remove the overhead wires from our place, but the trencher man is going to kill me due to all of the short runs. any thoughts?

If you are going to bury electric lines for 100 amp service I would do 1 or 2 dry runs with plow first to see if it can be plowed in in some soils you might decide that digging might be best is real easy to put cink in wire and mess up a expensive piece of wire , if you hit rocd tou can "stick a fork in it" you are done plowing .

I guess given the choice, i'm talking "serious" wire. i need to run about 250' for some out buildings, and would like to carry 100amp service to at least one of them. the REC is talking about putting a big breaker box at my meter, then i should be able to run out of that. are you talking about one of the TSC type of single bottom subsoilers? I was also considering trying to find one of the root plows that some NRCS offices have and using that for a channel.

yep...same as tsc sells...if you've got a welder handy could slot a piece of pipe and slide it over point of subsoiler and make a ''mole'' to bury conduit the same as i described for water lines...i dont know distances youre planning on running but that 100 amp service should be sized so you dont get line loss...our local coop believes in overkill on wire size...i dont know what code calls for in your area...we have to use 3 0 for a free standing meter pole with a 100 amp breaker...they claim its because too many lines get run off pole after its installed.

are you talking romex or serious wire...neighbor uses his gopher bait machine to bury romex...he made a wire feed out of conduit to run behind the ''mole'' and hung a spool roller on top.

i use a single shank subsoiler to bury water lines...gotta hand dig a pit to get it started...then just push pipe into tunnel...works great...be sure and cap pipe first tho.
