Found one of these that we will pick up in a week or two. Where can I find some information on these mills. It it rusted over, but not through on any metal. After sitting out for years it turns over as like new. It has a sticker on the side that reads "IH McCormick"

Thank you,

Scott Griffith

The McCormick grist mill was manufactured by Meadows MIlls in NC. They are still manufacturing syone burr mills to this day. They also offer restoration services for old mills. www.meadowsmills.com

I guess I am entering an unknown area here but here goes. I was always under the impression that a "Grist Mill" was a large Stone table which had a Stone Wheel running against it which ground meal from a grain which was directed between the two.Usually this was a water powered Mill but not all the time. Wind and animal power have been used to turn the stone. Stone ground is an old advertising description and sales pitch for the meal the Grist Mill produced. Am I wrong here? Now IH McCormick made what we called a "Burr Mill" and also made what we called a "Hammer Mill".Now please enlighten me as of what you refer to as a "Grist Mill"?
