hi , 25 years ago , my father baling contacter had two freeman motorised hay balers, 100T , i think.they had twin wheels on the left hand side, and had a very large flywheel which was positioned north- south v east -west on a new holland baler . flywheel was a pulley which ran a large single belt. ameriaca built. are there many still around and were there more models of that era.have seen a self propelled one in a photo.cheers

We have 3 Freeman balers. 2 330s and a 370. We are custom hayers, We can bale 80 acres in 3 hours with them. They are heavy built and lots of the parts readily available at a Napa store. We have Deutz diesel engines on our and pull them with John Deere tractors. Since Allied bought them out the parts seem to be better built. I will try post a pic.

Here in central Washington, there are lots of them, all the commercial hay farmers use them. I have a 200T from the 70's, it is 2 twine, PTO powered and it is totally reliable when timed well. It will bale consistently in thick and thin windrows. They are considered the heaviest duty balers available.

They sure are! A couple years ago, Allied Systems Company bought JA Freeman & Son, Inc. They still make balers (pull-type, self-powered, and self-propelled) and a variety bale handlers.

Roger,

Freeman balers are still around, I just saw four of them go down the road about two weeks ago. They are owned by a customer baler. They have built a swing tongue hitch on them and pull them with Dodge pickups in the field. I've watched them bale and they cruise right along. Occassionally you see one for sale, but their pretty spendy compared to other balers.
