I was wondering what you folks thought was the best older New Holland baler for reliability and capacity? Thanks.

like our 273...still plodding along after thousands and thousands of bales with the usual old equipment problems. jeff

yep I'd say the problem ones are the old 66 or s66 with wad boards. my next least favorite would be the ones with wood plunger slides. i think that is the 67 and 68? i hear the super 67 and s68 went to plunger bearings instead of wood slides., also the compact 65 had a chain driven feeder that was not quite as good as the 268 269 273 310 design.

the one that doesn't say new holland on the side. good rule of thumb for rakes and haybines, also. too many gearboxes that run in grease instead of oil, and their balers are waay underbuilt. could make two 68's out of a 214t deere. and i'm not a j.q. man.

For really old;
I have a NH Super 69 that has been very dependable. It looks awfull, but works great. Not as high a capacity as I would like.
