Just got a JD Van Brundt hoe drill model LZ, 10 X14. Anybody know how old these are? Local JD dealer said it was older than him, but I have nose hairs older than him...

my father has a steel wheel van brunt grain drill, and he is looking for a manual, that way he can set the grain setting to plant grain. if you have a manual for this drill, how much would it cost for it, and i would need your adderess. thank you for your time

It's older than I am, too. LZ, variant of L and LL drills. Made late forties into mid fifties. Designed to plant on dry soils through a light cover of mulch to conserve moisture. If memory is correct, it was designed to plant deeper than other JD hoe drills, press wheels designed to leave small furrows to catch rain water. Never seen one in these parts, just read about them in old JD sales literature. FB, FB-A, FB-B end-wheel single and double disk drills are very common here. Somehow, an LL-A made it to Pennsylvania, where I saw it at a sale. An old old EE will turn up from time to time, too. But no LZ.
