Knock me over with a feather!

Connecticut (and most / all of New England) isn't known for growing small grains.

Indeed, I've never seen a working combine...

Until last week.

Actually drove by while they were setting it up...I should've stopped...I convinced my self it was a figment of my imagination.

A few days later, went by again and saw it in the shed adjacent to their ice cream stand (We Li Kit in Pomfret, CT -- best ice cream...period.)

And just down the road fresh straw bales going up the elevator to the barn.

I'm assuming oats for horses from the little knowledge I have of what they look like, and I've seen some draft/pleasure horses their (drafting work I think confined to a hay ride occassionally...)

They had it hooked up to an about 40 hp pretty new Massey Ferguson utility tractor...which also surprised me since that was about 30 years newer than anything else they run -- their tractors would warm Allan's heart on a cold Nebraska winter day.
