Replacement Moldboard for Grader Blade

Hello,
I've recently acquired a 3pt, Cat 1, 6ft Grader Blade. Well, sort of.
It was made by Independent Mfg, and the guy who had it before me managed to break about 2ft of the moldboard off.
Independent is out of business these days, but I tracked down the outfit that bought their inventory, hoping to find replacement parts. No such luck.
Everyone I talk to says that I should just buy a whole new unit, but since the moldboard just bolts onto the existing framework, I think that just about any moldboard that doesn't have some bracket welded onto it would work.
It's a heavy duty unit, and replacement cost for this quality would be high.

Any suggestions?

Check city, county, state road and highway garages. Often times they"ll help a fellow out. May have to drill new holes in your frame? Just an idea for what it"s worth.

i've used pieces of heavy wall pipe for moldboards...lotsa contouring with tha bluetip wrench and the BFH but they work good.

If it were me, I'd just weld the 2 feet back on, if I had it. If I didn't, then I might find a piece of that profile, and weld that on, or have a piece formed, and weld that on. The blade itself should be easily sourced from any dealer that carries a line of cutting edges. The trick here is to repair it cheap. If not, then you're probably further ahead to just buy a new blade. Good luck.

check junk yards (there are a few heavy equipment yards around here) and farm sales. Anytime you see a junked grader or other equipment that might have one, stop and ask about it. Check county shops, sometimes the have one that somebody breaks and it is out in the weeds behind the shop (great source for replacement grader bits, also).
