Just aquired a Massey Harris MH21 pto 3pt hay rake in trade for some round bales. I've done some searching online and cant seem to find much information on this rake. Just wondering if anyone has used one, has any information on one and a lead on an owners manual. Thanks in advance

5 yrs of college in the Wolverine state, 20 years working in Motown, and a couple hundred days of chasing grouse, woodcock and prairie chickens along the roads from Duluth to Sudbury and all points in between. Lots of good U.P. memories, but the Dogs and I sure don't miss the Porquies. Nasty job.... pulling quills.

Saw a bald eagle once, just 20 feet off the highway, setting in a tree top, just looking down on me. Also a flock of sand hill cranes. Just looking at me. The solitude is nice but don't miss the snow.

Now retired, just making hay and racing horses in Ky. Hotter than hell here in July and August.

Yooper? short for U.P?
If so, you better make hay quick...snow is possible after Sept 1. How's the grouse population?

So how does a guy from Ky know that??? Summer is just a couple months of bad sledding here. lol My hay is done and the town has already had its "Hay Days" festival. I"ve got a few grouse around but not many. Road rats(aka:whitetail deer) are everywhere however.

I am partial to MF equipment, grew up with it so I have several pieces, all old including a 50 year old MF50 tractor that works every day....knock on wood. I have found that a decent Massey dealer can get manuals easily. If you don't have any luck in your area, call Rene at Cotrells Equip. in Simpsonville, KY---502-722-8849, she has sent me numerous small parts and manuals thru the mail. Knows her stuff.

Where i grew up there were a lot of small hay fields, 5 or 6 acres, often chopped up by fences or ditches. Those 3 point MF rakes where the ticket. Everyone used them. You could rake a line, then pick-up, turnaround and start a new windrow without rolling up an unbalable pile of hay on the turn. We don't see many around here but they are very servicable and like most implements, are common in some areas and never seen in others.

Edd-thats what I got it for. My "real" hay is done by my neighbor with mower/conditioner, big rakes and round baler. I"ve got a couple small fields that I want to mess around in with my WD45 JD#5 and now this Massey rake. Doesnt pay to let those old tractors sit around. I"ve traded for all this hay equipment-no one wants to mess with it here so it can be had for a good price and/or trade. I always like to get manuals if I can for parts info etc.
